Concept / mock mini-site · Disability Is Awesome University on AJF. Not accredited higher ed. No medicine. Soft CTAs only. Forms are UI demos — not wired to a list.
Strengths first. Hard parts honest. Practice that fits real nights.
A planned subscription learning catalog — not a clinic, not therapy, and not a degree program. Short tracks for ADHD, autism, dual nights, and self-advocates, built around the child or learner as the manager.
What it is
Disability Is Awesome University is a multi-audience learning catalog + membership idea: parents, self-advocates (teens/adults), and later educators. You get short practice courses, optional calm community, and a strengths-first frame that still names the hard parts — especially executive functioning load at the kitchen table.
We call it a “university” as a metaphor for tracks + ongoing enrollment. It does not mean regional accreditation, degrees, or CE credits unless those become true later.
How we teach
- Strengths first — interest, pattern-spotting, honesty, deep focus when the fit is right — without pretending difficulty disappears.
- Honest hard parts — stuck starts, switch/transition load, sensory overload, unclear demands, dual ADHD+autism nights.
- Manager spine — Start / Stay / Switch / Check. The child or learner is the manager being coached, a little more this month than last month.
- One skill per week — short practice, scripts, tiny checkpoints. Not forty-lecture dumps.
Who it’s for
ADHD track
Parent nights on Start / Stay / Switch / Check with ADHD-style days.
Autism track
Stuck/inertia, transitions, sensory load — autism kitchen words on the same spine.
Dual nights
When ADHD and autism show up in the same house — no forced single-lane identity.
Self-advocate
Teens and adults practicing their own manager moves at home and work.
Membership shape (concept)
If built, University would be a paid membership for structured practice catalogs — research band roughly above Kitchen Table Club (~$29/mo list) when catalog depth is truly broader (illustrative research band ~$39–$79/mo). Exact price TBD. Soft validation (guide + drip + light live) comes before any checkout.
Free layer stays: guide and kitchen-table tools. Faith may be offered, never required.
Product boundaries (important)
| Product | Job | Relationship |
|---|---|---|
| Train the Manager | One-time ADHD-parent EF syllabus (~8 modules) | Separate. University may reference manager language but must not drip the paid syllabus as membership filler. |
| Kitchen Table Club | Ongoing home practice; ~1 live hr/mo; open join | Separate SKU. University is not “Club renamed.” |
| Disability Is Awesome University | Multi-track strengths + hard-parts learning catalog | Breadth tracks for parents + self-advocates (+ later educators). |
What this is not
- Not medicine advice, diagnosis, or a clinic
- Not IEP legal advocacy
- Not inspiration porn or a “cure” narrative
- Not a forced ladder — soft cross-links to Book / Guide / Course waitlist only
